Sending Off POPDA and PEPARPEDA Athletes, Regional Secretary Erik: Good Luck and Make Malang City's Name Proud

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City athletes who will compete in the 14th Regional Student Sports Week (POPDA) and the 2nd East Java Regional Student Paralympic Week (PEPARPEDA) are optimistic about being the best in the event which will take place in Bangkalan on 4-11 November 2024.

The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, sent off the Malang City Contingent 

The Malang City contingent was released directly by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT during the morning assembly in the yard of Malang City Hall, Monday (4/11/2024). Erik said that the morning assembly which was combined with the departure of Malang City athletes to the two events was an important momentum to provide encouragement to the athletes who would compete to be able to make Malang City proud through sports.

"This is a good event to strengthen synergy, strengthen performance between institutions in Malang City to be able to work together to do the best for our beloved Malang City. Good synergy will make what Malang City wants to achieve and what is aspired to be realized faster," said Erik.

This is in line with the commitment of the Malang City Government (Pemkot) to realize a solid, sporty and effective government. Including in the field of sports, the City Government continues to unite its steps not only in producing outstanding athletes. But how sports can become a lifestyle, a habit for all officials for all residents of Malang City.

"We make it a place to support the best potential where young talents will be produced who will excel at regional, national and even international levels. I am sure that Malang City has great potential in the field of sports supported by adequate facilities, proper coaching and high fighting spirit," said Erik.

Erik is optimistic that Malang City will not only be able to produce athletes who excel at the local and national levels but also at the international level. The momentum of the departure of Malang City athletes at POPDA and PEPARPEDA 2024 is proof that Malang City can continue to strive to be the best.

"Therefore, this sport is not just a competition event but will also be included in the character of the nation's golden generation who have sportsmanship and an unyielding spirit," said Erik.

For that, Erik advised the athletes to be able to bring proud achievements and be the best so that they can be an inspiration and motivation for other colleagues. Erik also did not forget to advise to maintain health, focus, and uphold sportsmanship in every step of the struggle of the athletes who are fighting in POPDA and PEPARPEDA 2024.

"We believe that the athletes' struggle will receive support from their families and the entire community of Malang City so that when they return to Malang City they can bring brilliant achievements. Good luck and make Malang City proud," said Erik.

Head of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Agency (Disporapar) of Malang City, Baihaqi, said that Malang City sent 276 POPDA athletes and 3 PEPARPEDA athletes as well as 51 coaches to compete in the 22 sports branches being competed.

"By persistently fighting, maintaining solidarity, we can finally carry out the match in Bangkalan to the maximum. The hope is to achieve the best achievements and be able to make the name of Malang City and the people of Malang City proud,"

Baihaqi further said that POPDA is also an event to develop young athletes who will later compete in the Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV) and even the National Sports Week (PON). The city government hopes that this athlete development can make Malang City proud at the regional, national and international levels. (cah/yul)
