"We have visited Malang City several times, both led by the mayor and the Chairman of the DPRD. This has also become a routine activity because we consider that the role of the media in developing the city government to build communication and information is mandatory. Communication between the government and the community is not only one way, but two ways with the help of media friends," said Dance.

Similarly, the Assistant for General Administration of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Sri Winarni, said that it is undeniable that the media has an important role in the implementation of government. "The media is not only a disseminator of information, but also has the function of carrying out social control and supervising the implementation of the government. Especially in today's digital era, the role of the media is increasingly complex and dynamic," said the woman who is familiarly called Bu Win.

Furthermore, Win said that openness of public information is also one of the important pillars in good governance. According to him, with openness of information, it will encourage public participation to play an active role in monitoring government performance and conveying constructive aspirations as input in decision making. Synergy with the media continues to be carried out to ensure the dissemination of information appropriately and support active public participation in the development of Malang City.

"In this case, the media can be a bridge between the government and the community to convey accurate and relevant information, as well as accommodate the aspirations of the community. The Malang City Government is also strengthening cooperation with the media through the Communication and Information Service and the Prokompim Section," he explained.

The cooperation between the Malang City Government and the media is a form of commitment in providing services and public information disclosure that is increasingly transparent and inclusive. This also led the Malang City Government to receive appreciation from the Ministry of PAN-RB as a region that cares about public information services and disclosure.

The discussion was established and went smoothly, various information related to the openness of public information and media relations run by the two regional governments became input to be able to improve services to provide more transparent and accurate public information. (ari/yn)
