Malang City BPPD Policy Determining Elements for the 2024-2028 Period Officially Confirmed

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City geographically has limitations in terms of natural resources to be used as nature tourism, especially compared to areas in the Malang Raya unit, namely Malang Regency and Batu City which have natural potential such as mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. However, Malang City can still utilize the existing potential by developing tourism based on culture, history, and creativity.

Malang City Regional Secretary Erik Setyo Santoso confirms the Policy Determining Elements of the Malang City BPPD for the 2024-2028 Period

Although Malang City has strengthened cultural and historical tourism such as Jodipan Colorful Village, Kajoetangan Heritage Village, and Arema Blue Village which attract tourists and have their own attractions, there needs to be an effort to explore other tourism potentials as an alternative.

These are some of the things conveyed by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso after confirming the Policy Determining Elements of the Regional Tourism Promotion Agency (BPPD) for the 2024-2028 Period in the Meeting Room of Malang City Hall, Thursday (7/11/2024).

To do this, he emphasized that the Malang City Government cannot work alone, and needs support from various tourism elements, especially in providing strategic direction and promotional activities to increase the attractiveness of regional tourism. This is where the role of the BPPD Policy Determining Element is very necessary.

"Therefore, the BPPD Policy Determining Elements were inaugurated today, I hope they can carry out the mandate given, including in formulating the vision, mission, and strategy to develop and promote tourist destinations by setting priorities in order to optimize local tourism potential by considering regional characteristics and tourist market preferences," added Regional Secretary Erik.

In addition, collaboration with stakeholders should also be established, such as local governments, business actors, tourism communities, and the private sector to pool resources, strengthen marketing, and create integrated tourism packages.

No less important, Erik emphasized the importance of developing identity and branding elements that are relevant to local culture, nature, or history to make the region have a distinctive character so that it can attract domestic and international tourists. Then, also monitor and evaluate promotional activities to assess the success of promotional strategies, adjust policy directions, and optimize the use of promotional budgets to be more efficient.

Encourage innovation in the development of attractive tourism products that are relevant to tourism trends and initiate programs that support the creation of new tourism attractions, while developing technology-based and sustainable tourism.

Addressing tourism challenges and crises such as declining tourist numbers, by formulating solutions and mitigation strategies through developing policies that are responsive to market changes and encouraging safe and sustainable tourism.

"I am sure, with the strategic role of the BPPD policy element, it will be able to become a driving force that allows Malang City to optimize tourism potential with a more focused, innovative, and sustainable approach, which ultimately drives regional economic growth and improves community welfare," he concluded.
