FMIX, Real Form of Creative Cross-Stakeholder Collaboration

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Creative Fusion (MCF) in collaboration with the Malang City Government (Pemkot) is again holding the annual Mbois Festival event for the ninth time with the title FMIX (Festival Mbois IX) which will be held for three days from 8-10 November 2024 at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) Building, Malang City.

Expert Staff for Law, Government, and Politics of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Tabrani, who was present to open the event representing the Acting Mayor of Malang, said that FMIX is not just an ordinary creative event, but is a place to gather creative activities which are a new force that can build the progress of Malang City. "This activity is expected to be a place for creative industry players, in improving welfare and strengthening the regional economy," he said.

According to him, the creative economy (Ekraf) has given a new color and significant contribution to the development of Malang City today. Ekraf in Malang City is growing very rapidly with hundreds of startups worth two billion rupiah per year, supported by dozens of communities and co-working spaces. This ecosystem is predicted to be the backbone of Malang City in the future.

In line with this, Malang City is determined to become a world creative city by 2025. Currently, Malang City has passed the final national selection for nomination as a member of the UNESCO 2025 World Creative City network. Tabrani also asked all parties to prepare to move from the creative economy concept to the World Creative City concept. He is also confident that with cross-stakeholder collaboration, the mission of making Malang City a sustainable center of creativity can be realized, which is expected to have a positive impact on the local community and provide an example to other cities.

"Therefore, through this morning's activity, I invite all creative economy stakeholders to unite, collaborate and innovate together to realize a world creative city in order to create an environment that supports the growth of creative businesses and provides a positive impact on the people of Malang City," he said.

Likewise, MCF coordinator Dadik Wahyu Chang said that good collaboration is also one of the keys to organizing FMIX 2024. More than 100 cross-sector collaborators participated in FMIX 2024. Starting from government agencies, universities, private companies, creative communities, to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"Different from last year, where we invited our collaborators and offered them to join and we gave them a certain budget, this year it really is our collaborator friends who personally also have the desire to attend," he explained.

Carrying the theme “Lek Wes Nglumpuk Kipa Ilakes” which means when you gather it’s great, FMIX presents various activities in its three days of implementation, starting from band competitions, mural action, tamiya racing competition, keris exhibition, cooking workshop, mapping, 3D exhibition, painting, fine arts, conference, music copyright workshop, to creative business talk show and business legality services.
