Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – 1.100 runners, from local, national, to international runners enlivened the Ngalam Heritage Run 10K which started and finished at the Gajayana Stadium in Malang City, Sunday (17/11/2024). Ngalam Heritage Run is an annual event of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Agency (Disporapar) of Malang City which is now entering its third year.
The running event, which is a means to campaign for a healthy life through sports and an effort to introduce tourism through sports tourism, was launched by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Iwan Kurniawan ST, MM, accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Malang City and the ranks of the Malang City Forkopimda.
"I appreciate the Ngalam Heritage Run 2024 which is routinely held by Disporapar. The participants are not only from Malang City, but also from outside Malang City, and even internationally. This is an extraordinary thing, and we need to maintain it," said Iwan.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Malang City Disporapar, Baihaqi, said that Malang City is currently promoting sport tourism events which are a means of campaigning for healthy living through sports as well as promoting and introducing Malang City tourism.
"(Ngalam Heritage Run) Can be an attraction. So besides running, you can also enjoy the tourist destinations, the culinary, so that our hope is that Malang City can be better known, both at the regional, national and even international levels," Baihaqi hoped.
Ngalam Heritage Run is an annual routine event that covers a distance of 10 kilometers, with a route according to the concept carried, namely crossing heritage areas in Malang City.
"This is the third Ngalam Heritage Run 10K. And the participants are extraordinary for this year's jump, from last year approximately 900 participants, now 1.100 participants. Then we also increase the prize, from previously a total of Rp25 million, now the total prize reaches Rp75 million," he said.
Baihaqi said, in addition to the very attractive prizes, the Ngalam Heritage Run 10K 2024 event was also enlivened by national runners, namely Robi Sianturi and four other national runners. "Of course, what is very proud, this event is incredibly attractive, because there are around ten foreign runners, from Kenya, Uzbekistan, USA and others who participated in this Ngalam Heritage Run 10K event," he explained.
In addition to the Acting Mayor of Malang who was present accompanied by his wife, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso and the ranks of the Malang City Forkopimda also enlivened the Ngalam Heritage Run sport tourism event which is expected to boost tourism visits and drive the economic sector in Malang City.
