Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government has implemented various strategies to reduce the prevalence of stunting. Such as that carried out by Blimbing Village which held a Training in Making Complementary Breast Milk (MPASI) for Posyandu cadres, children's forums, and mothers of babies and toddlers in the Blimbing Village area, Blimbing District, Monday (18/11/2024).
Blimbing Village Head, Yohanes Johan Widyatmoko said that the implementation of this activity was to raise awareness among parents about the importance of providing healthy food for children. Nutritional needs for children starting from the age of 6-24 months greatly support their growth and development, so that stunting can be prevented by paying more attention and providing the quantity and quality of nutrition, especially the protein consumed.
"The hope is that parents can raise awareness about the importance of health, growth and development, child protection and be able to provide education and preventive measures in their environment. Yes, one of them is by providing proper nutrition for children to avoid stunting," he explained.
Furthermore, Johan said that this training is in line with the government's commitment to realizing protection for children in growth and development and preventing stunting. The involvement of mothers and children in stunting prevention programs has proven effective in creating a healthy, quality, and intelligent golden generation.
"We want to provide good and correct understanding and counseling to parents, especially mothers of toddlers and pregnant women to be more sensitive to children's nutritional needs to prevent stunting in an effective and targeted manner," he continued.
In this activity, a resource person was presented who is a Nutritionist of Cisadea Health Center Khanin Hidayah. The participants were also invited to make a nutritious MPASI menu from simple ingredients, namely bananas, eggs, and coconut milk. Not only that, participants were given education about the right MPASI for children. In this activity, participants who were mothers and teenage girls were also given education about early detection of cancer in women delivered by Midwife Dwi Lisa Indahyani. (ari/yn)
