This is the main point emphasized by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso when delivering directions in Strengthening the Integrity and Professionalism of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the Malang City Government at the Mini Block Office Hall of Malang City, Monday (18/11/2024).
In the activity attended by ASN batch 2023 and 2024, the Regional Secretary emphasized that as civil servants, ASN must have ethics and morality in carrying out their duties. This is to improve the quality of public services, integrity, discipline, and professionalism. "Understanding related to this must be strengthened as a provision to work optimally and serve well," he said.
In addition, on this occasion Erik motivated the ASN to continue to open their horizons and lower their egos in order to accept input and even criticism. "Come on, open your shells, lower your egos, because if we prioritize our egos and don't want to open our shells, don't want to accept new things, how can we improve, upgrade and upskill as an apparatus," said Erik.
Erik also conveyed several strategic issues that are challenges for today's ASN, including the demand for mastery of skills that are in line with technological developments, increasingly tight competition, the struggle for HR/talent war, digital transformation that is moving very quickly (digital disruption), increasing public engagement with government activities, and the government's response to community needs.
Not to forget, Erik invited all ASN to be able to establish cooperation with leaders and between colleagues as one team. This is very necessary in order to create synergy and good collaboration which will ultimately create optimal public services and achieve the welfare of the people of Malang City.
