Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) held a Standby Roll Call for Supervision of the 2024 East Java Governor and Deputy Governor Elections and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Malang in the front yard of Malang City Hall, Saturday (23/11/2024). This standby roll call is a step to prevent violations in the Simultaneous Regional Election process which will be held on November 27, 2024, especially during the quiet period of the Regional Election starting from November 24-26, 2024.
On the sidelines of the roll call, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, representing the Acting Mayor of Malang, advised that the implementation of the upcoming Pilkada can run smoothly, considering that November 27 is the peak of the Democratic Party.
"We must be able to show that Malang City can once again hold elections that are safe, smooth and conducive and do not harm democracy," he added.
Therefore, at the momentum of this alert roll call, Erik also advised law enforcement officers, the KPU, Bawaslu, regional government ranks and civil society organizations to maintain their professionalism and independence so that the Pilkada runs honestly and fairly.
"I emphasize this because in a healthy political game, clear rules and referees who work professionally are needed. All of this must be maintained properly. In addition, synergy and coordination must continue to be strengthened," he added.
"For all levels of Pilkada organizers, carry out your duties and obligations according to your respective duties and functions seriously, with full discipline and a high sense of responsibility," said Regional Secretary Erik.
Erik further said, do not stop consolidating in the internal scope and build good cross-sectoral communication. And no less important is do not be afraid in carrying out the task as a supervisor, because the noble task is to carry out orders based on the law.
Erik believes that with such efforts, it will be possible to create a Malang City Pilkada with integrity, honesty, fairness and dignity. "On this occasion, I also invite all elements of Malang City society to jointly support the implementation of the Pilkada and ensure the smoothness and success of the supervision of the 2024 Pilkada," he invited.
