Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The still high number of cases of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), one of which is cancer in women, has encouraged the Malang City Health Office (Dinkes) to continue to intensify examinations for early detection of cervical cancer and breast cancer. The examinations held on November 25-26, 2024, are provided free of charge to the public.
Head of the Malang City Health Office, dr. Husnul Muarif said that the purpose of this examination is to find cases earlier so that treatment can also be done faster and more effectively. "We want to do screening, early identification of cervical cancer. As an appeal to the public to do early detection with the easiest and most affordable examination, namely the IVA (Visual Inspection of Acetic Acid)," he said.
Husnul said that the two-day event was also part of a series of events to commemorate National Health Day in Malang City. Unexpectedly, the public's enthusiasm for participating in the examination was very high and even exceeded the target.
"The target is 400 people, but those who have registered have been recorded as 750 to 800 people. Not only from Malang City, but also from other regions. We still accommodate all who have registered. But before that, of course, we will screen them first, according to the requirements or not," he explained.
Not only conducting examinations, the Health Office has also prepared further procedures for participants diagnosed with indications of this cancer. "We have provided procedures, the health center can implement it for grades 1 and 2. If there are other conditions, we will refer them to RSSA," he continued.
Husnul said that this examination has also been carried out routinely at the health center. For the target, the Health Office has also collaborated with the PKK and other regional apparatuses. Not only cervical and breast cancer examinations, along with this, PTM screening is also provided, such as measuring height, weight, waist circumference, blood sugar, and blood pressure as well as doctor consultations.
