Quiet Period, Acting Mayor of Malang Reviews Stability of Basic Food Prices and Logistics Readiness Regional elections
Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) of the market to monitor price stability and affordability, as well as the availability and smooth distribution of volatile commodities entering the quiet period for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada). This inspection was also combined with a review of the logistical readiness of the Malang City Pilkada at several points, Tuesday (26/11/2024).
As a result, the Acting Mayor of Malang ensured that all technical aspects, logistics and officers were ready, so that the voting process could run safely and smoothly. Iwan also said that the price and availability of basic necessities were stable and safe.
"Alhamdulillah, today we are taking preparatory steps for the implementation of the Pilkada, especially tomorrow, November 27, 2024, we will hold voting for the election of mayor and deputy mayor as well as governor and deputy governor (East Java). We are also seeing the readiness of the implementation of the Pilkada at the distribution stage," explained Iwan.
On this occasion, the Acting Mayor of Malang together with the ranks of the Malang City Government and Forkopimda checked the readiness of the regional election logistics in Lowokwaru Village and Kasin Village. He revealed that the logistics preparation had been carried out carefully starting from the sub-district level, village to the logistics equipment that would be distributed to each TPS.
"We saw the place of preparation of logistics equipment in the village warehouse. Alhamdulillah I saw everything complete, the condition is sealed, then the storage place the key is also held by one person, namely the Head of KPPS who is responsible here for the preparation of logistics. Then the place is also safe and comfortable, does not leak or flood when it rains," he said in appreciation.
The health condition of the officers also became the attention of the Acting Mayor of Malang. "Regarding health services, we have prepared and provided vitamins for the KPPS and TPS officers who will be on duty. The Malang City Government has also prepared mobile services to the TPS. I hope that the sub-district heads, village heads and KPPS heads will each monitor the physical condition and health of each of their members. If you find officers who may be tired or not feeling well, immediately coordinate with the health team, either from the Health Center or the Health Office as anticipation," he said.
Iwan also hopes that the implementation of the Malang City Pilkada can run well, conducively, safely and all the officers organizing the Simultaneous Pilkada are in good health until the tasks they are carrying out are completed.
Furthermore, regarding monitoring the prices of basic commodities, for availability, especially during the implementation of the Pilkada, Iwan said that the prices of basic commodities in Malang City are under control and stocks are guaranteed to be safe.
“This was divided into two teams. The first team was led by the Regional Secretary to several points, especially in market locations. The second team along with the Forkopimda ranks after the roll call to release officers who will be on duty for the implementation of the regional elections in the sub-districts and villages then continued to join several points to review the prices of basic necessities. Alhamdulillah, everything is still under control. Information from the Regional Secretary in the market is also still relatively safe, there is no high spike. For chilies, tomatoes, onions, the prices are still relatively stable," he explained.
The Acting Mayor of Malang said that from the results of the national coordination meeting on inflation control with the central government, nationally the prices of shallots, garlic and chilies have increased. However, after checking in the field, several markets in Malang City did not experience an increase.
"For the stock availability of rice, oil, garlic, shallots and chili, thank God the stock is well controlled. Earlier we also reviewed the oil and rice distributors, and it is estimated that the next two to three months are still safe. Later approaching Christmas and New Year we will monitor the price stability and availability of basic commodities," he concluded. (yul/yn)
