HKN and World AIDS Day 2024, Moments to Improve Public Health

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Health Office (Dinkes) held the 2024 National Health Day (HKN) and World AIDS Day (HAS) Celebration, Sunday (1/12/2024). The event, which was held in the Malang City Car Free Day (CFD) area along Ijen Boulevard, also attracted the enthusiasm of the community.

Representing the Acting Mayor of Malang, the Expert Staff for Economics and Finance of the Malang City Secretariat, M. Sailendra said that this activity has a strong correlation in efforts to improve the quality of life of the community through a holistic approach to health. "Increasing understanding and support for resolving health issues such as HIV/AIDS is greatly needed in forming a healthy and prosperous society," he said.

Sailendra invites all people to play a role in maintaining health, starting from themselves, families, communities, to the wider community level. This is in line with the theme of HKN 2024, namely 'Joint Movement, Healthy Together'. "This must be our shared spirit to emphasize the importance of collaboration and cooperation of all elements of society to improve health together," he continued.

Regarding the theme of HAS 2024 'Equal Rights for All, Together We Can', Sailendra also reminded of the importance of an inclusive approach in fulfilling the rights of every individual including equal access to services without stigma and discrimination.

On this momentum, the Malang City Government also invites all parties to strengthen synergy and collaboration in the health sector, especially for handling stunting, efficiency and effectiveness of health services for the community, improving health facilities, including improving innovation in health services. "Hopefully our joint efforts will improve the health of the people of Malang City," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Health Office, Husnul Muarif, said that in this activity, his party collaborated with health facilities in Malang City. "We are holding education, consultation, basic and supporting examinations. It can be accessed by the public this morning. The public can find out their body condition, so that the public can maintain and preserve their health. The goal is that we can improve and maintain the level of health," he explained.

Husnul also revealed, in commemorating this year's HKN, the Malang City Health Office held a series of activities, which began last October. "For this series of HKN activities, we have started in October with examinations of elementary and junior high school students, Hb screening for high school students, education on nutritious food, blood donation and health checks for election officers, such as Satlinmas and KPPS," he explained.

Not only that, the Malang City Health Office also held social activities by visiting orphanages to distribute aid and conduct health checks.

The 2024 HKN and HAS Festival also provided free health check-up services for the community by involving 18 hospitals, clinics, and health professional organizations. "We see that quite a lot of people accessed health check-ups and also got health information in this event," he said.

On this occasion, the Health Office also presented awards to health facilities, namely the Arjuno Health Center which became the health center with the best SPM achievement in the health sector in 2023, the Gribig Health Center as the health center implementing the best immunization program in 2024, the Posyandu Apel RW 13, Tanjungrejo Village as the Best Primary Service Integration Posyandu in 2024, and the Panti Nirmala Hospital as the Best Private Service Network for the Disease Prevention and Control Program.

Awards were also given to the Malang Health Office poster competition team which won First Place in the Poster Innovation for the Implementation of Germas in Various Levels at the East Java Provincial Level in 2024. (ari/yn)
