Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – During November 2024, Malang City's month-to-month (mtm) inflation was recorded at 0,24 percent, year-on-year (yoy) at 1,22 percent, and year-to-date (ytd) at 0,89 percent. The highest mtm inflation was recorded in Bojonegoro Regency at 0,46 percent, while the lowest was in Banyuwangi Regency at 0,11 percent.
Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Malang City, Umar Sjaifudin in the Official Statistics News Release of Malang City for December at the BPS Office of Malang City, Monday (2/12/2024) revealed that the food, beverage and tobacco group contributed the largest to November inflation or mtm, namely 0,17 percent.
Meanwhile, the commodities that predominantly contributed to mtm inflation were shallots which contributed 0,11 percent, gold jewelry 0,05 percent, broiler chicken 0,05 percent, tomatoes 0,03 percent, cooking oil 0,01 percent, chayote 0,01 percent, kale 0,01 and garlic 0,01 percent.
"This condition is due to the reduced harvest of tomatoes and shallots, so that the supply of both commodities has begun to decrease in the community. Next, bulk cooking oil is the main factor that triggers the increase in the price of cooking oil commodities," he explained.
In addition, PT Pertamina (Persero) has again adjusted the price of general fuel oil (BBM). On October 1, 2024, the price of Pertamax Dex was from IDR 13.150/liter and on November 1 it increased to IDR 13.440/liter.
The price adjustments for non-subsidized fuels that will be effective starting in early November 2024 include DexLite fuel, which was sold for IDR 1/liter on October 12.700, now starting November 1 it is sold for IDR 13.050/liter, then Pertamax Turbo in the same period from IDR 13.250/liter to IDR 13.500/liter. "The price of gold in Indonesia also follows the trend of increasing world gold prices. In Indonesia, the price of Antam gold is already in the range of IDR 1,5 million/gram," continued Umar.
He further said that the main contributors to yoy inflation in November 2024 were personal care and other services with a contribution of 0,45 percent. Commodities that contributed greatly were gold jewelry, shallots, garlic and ground coffee.
On the other hand, Umar said some food items experienced deflation. In November, the average price of rice fell by 0,65 percent compared to the price in October. Rice contributed 0,03 percent to deflation. "The cause of the decline in rice prices is, among other things, the availability of sufficient stock in the market," he explained.
"For cayenne pepper in November also experienced a decline of 11,08 percent compared to the previous month. The cause of this price decline is also because the stock in the market is sufficient," concluded Umar. (say/yon)
