Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The commitment to eradicate the circulation of illegal cigarettes continues to be strengthened and encouraged. One of them is by holding the Joint Operation (Opsgab) to Attack Illegal Cigarettes again, Wednesday (4/12/2024). This cross-sectoral joint team targeted grocery stores in several locations in Malang City.
Head of the Malang City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Heru Mulyono, said that the activity involving elements of Satpol PP, Malang Customs, TNI and Polri, and the District Attorney's Office was held in order to combat the circulation of illegal cigarettes in the Malang City area.
"From the results of the joint operation targeting three shops in three sub-districts in Malang City, the joint team managed to confiscate 1.503 packs or around 29.140 illegal cigarettes. Hopefully, with our joint steps, the circulation of illegal cigarettes can be reduced. We will also continue to intensify operations like this in the future," he said.
Heru also appealed to the public to participate by not buying illegal cigarettes. "We hope that the public will also support this program, because reducing the circulation of illegal cigarettes has a positive impact on the country's economy, and of course to maintain public health," he continued.
Meanwhile, from the confirmation of the Head of the Malang Customs Information and Services Section, Dwi Prasetyo Rini revealed that Customs has taken preventive and repressive measures.
"This joint operation is a repressive effort carried out by Customs in eradicating illegal cigarettes. Meanwhile, for prevention, we also conduct various socializations to the community, such as the Sobo Kampung and Sobo Pasar programs," explained Rini
He further stated that in the Malang area itself, from the results of operations carried out throughout 2024 (until November), 19,7 million sticks had been found.
The goods resulting from the action in the form of illegal cigarettes were secured with the status of becoming state property. "After becoming state property, it will then be continued with the destruction process," he concluded. (ari/yn)
