Looking Ahead to the 21th Porprov, Malang City Cycling Race Prepares XNUMX Athletes

Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – After successfully winning the overall championship in the cycling sport at the 2024th East Java Regional Student Sports Week (Popda) 5 in Bangkalan Regency on 10-2024 November 2025, Malang City is now concentrating on preparing its cycling athletes for the XNUMXth East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) XNUMX.

Head of the Achievement Division (Binpres) of the Indonesian Cycling Association (ISSI) of Malang City, Sugeng Trihartono said, as the host of the IX East Java Porprov together with Malang Regency and Batu City, Malang City must show maximum performance. "Malang City has prepared 21 of the best athletes, and is handled by five coaches," he explained, Saturday (7/12/2024).

Tono said that his party did not burden the target of having to win a gold medal, because 60 percent of the athletes prepared were still under 13 years old. "Hopefully these young athletes can perform well, and also with the many young athletes, the regeneration of Malang City racers will run well. So even if in Porprov later their achievements are still not optimal, then in the next event our young racers can give their best," said Tono.

Moreover, in the 2025 East Java IX Porprov, Malang City racers who won gold medals in Popda 2024, such as Angga, Zidane and Alif, can no longer be fielded due to age regulations. That is why Malang City currently relies on young racers who still need a process and flying hours to be able to achieve.

Meanwhile, Malang City Cycling Coach Tifania Adine Almira Azaria said that the names of the 21 Malang City cycling athletes are still not safe, because there is a promotion and degradation system by looking at developments during training and also various championships that are participated in.

"The 21 racers who are prepared to appear in Porprov 2025 are likely to still change by looking at the developments from various championships and intensive training that are carried out," said Adin, the nickname of Tifania Adine Almira Azaria. (cah/yn)
