Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – High intensity rain almost every day pours down on Malang City. One of the impacts caused is the disaster of fallen trees in public facilities that can endanger residents and road users passing by. The fall of trees or tree branches is caused by the soil at the roots of the tree being eroded by water and the impact of rainwater accompanied by strong winds.
The Malang City Environmental Service (DLH) also routinely maintains trees, by pruning tree branches and cutting fragile branches to reduce the risk of trees falling or large branches breaking.
Head of the Green Open Space (RTH) Division of the Malang City Environmental Agency, Laode KB Al-Fitra, revealed that tree maintenance this time had begun since December 1 at 76 locations, last November his party also handled maintenance at 79 locations spread across five sub-districts in Malang City.
"For handling fallen trees, we have a team on standby for 24 hours. Residents who see indications of fragile or prone to falling trees can contact the 112 call center which will then connect them to the handling team from DLH," he explained, Wednesday (11/12/2024).
"When a tree falls, we immediately replace it with a new tree, such as a tabebuya tree which is relatively safer and its roots do not damage the asphalt. We urge the public to be vigilant, because the weather is currently extreme," Laode concluded. (say/yn)
