Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – In order to maintain price stability and supply of volatile commodities ahead of the National Religious Holidays (HBKN) of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) held a High Level Meeting (HLM) of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) at the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama Hotel, Tuesday (17/12/2024).

Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan appreciated the collaborative work that has been carried out by TPID so that inflation in Malang City remains under control. "Our inflation is still under control, in general year on year at 1,22 percent, for month to month 0,24 percent. This means that at the end of this year, the performance of related stakeholders, especially TPID, is able to control inflation well," he said.
Acting Mayor of Malang encouraged TPID to prepare and implement strategic steps towards the end of 2024 so that inflation will remain under control despite the potential increase in demand for basic necessities. "Nataru (Christmas and New Year) is one of the moments that we must protect from potential inflation, by implementing short-term steps," he said.
Iwan also stated that he had determined road map for the years 2025 to 2029. Road map This is acknowledged in accordance with the direction and expectations of the President to prepare guidelines that can be implemented as strategic steps. This road map is also supported by various innovations to control inflation. One of them is the chili planting program carried out by Kodim 0833 Malang City which aims to help meet the needs of the community.
In addition, Iwan said that the implementation of the Integrated Social Movement (Gesit) is also one of the efforts of the Malang City Government which is not only to overcome inflation, but also to overcome other strategic issues, namely poverty and stunting. "My hope is that in this road map, at least three innovations have been depicted, namely the Inflation Care School, the Inflation Care Office, and Sepasar Pedas. These three innovations need to be implemented well in the long term and more innovations can be done by the City of Malang," he continued.
In controlling inflation in Malang City, Iwan said that Malang City applies the 4K principle, namely price affordability, supply availability, smooth distribution, and effective communication. These 4Ks are then implemented into nine concrete steps, such as price and stock monitoring, TPID technical meetings, maintaining the supply of basic necessities and essential goods (bapokting), launching a planting movement, implementing cheap market operations, conducting market inspections, coordinating with producer areas, realizing BTT to control inflation, and providing transportation assistance from the APBD.
"The HLM that we are doing today is one of the steps to establish effective communication. We coordinate, map problems and issues, then we communicate with relevant stakeholders, not only the local government and forkopimda but also business actors, business actors, and the community," he said.
Malang City as a region with limited agricultural land area, he said must also establish cooperation between regions in order to meet the needs of agricultural products. "This means that interventions for agricultural products, we must collaborate with other regions as agricultural producers to be able to distribute to Malang City. We must maintain this. Don't let the traffic regulation policy in Nataru also disrupt the smooth distribution and supply of basic materials and agriculture," he said.
As a follow-up to this HLM, in the near future the Malang City TPID will conduct direct monitoring related to the price and availability of basic necessities in several markets to warehouses. (ari/yn)
