Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025, the stock of prices and availability of basic necessities in Malang City are monitored to be safe. This was seen when the Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) led by Acting (Pj.) Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan accompanied the Indonesian Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso on the sidelines of his visit to inspect the Madyopuro Market in Malang City, Thursday (19/12/2024).
After talking with several traders, Minister Budi mentioned that there is a trend of increasing prices for several basic commodities due to increasing demand ahead of Christmas and New Year. Even so, the price conditions are still considered normal because they are still below the Highest Retail Price (HET) or reference price."The prices were all normal, none exceeded the reference price. Even if there is an upward trend, it is still below the reference price. Earlier, traders said (this increase) because it was almost Christmas, so demand increased, but it is still safe," he explained.
On this occasion, Minister Budi together with TPID Malang City also reviewed the implementation of the Cheap Food Movement at Perumda Tugu Aneka Usaha (Tunas). This review was carried out to ensure price stability and meet the food needs of the community ahead of Nataru.
Separately, Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan said, in order to ensure smooth inflation control, especially during the upcoming Nataru moment, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) has implemented four inflation control strategies, including ensuring price affordability, distribution, availability of supplies, and more effective communication.
Regarding the request for additional supply for several commodities, Iwan admitted that he would immediately follow up on the request, including asking for support from the central government to ensure the smooth supply and distribution of basic necessities.
"We have several notes that were submitted to the Minister of Trade, including to support the smoothness of supply and distribution, and several policies that are certainly very supportive for the City of Malang," he said.
In addition to the availability of basic necessities at Madyopuro Market, Perumda Tunas, and Bulog Malang, a review was also conducted at the Pertamina Fuel Terminal Office on Jalan Halmahera No. 13 Malang. Several strategies were prepared to anticipate the 2024 Nataru moment, including placing mobile gas stations, preparing tanks in full condition, and filling up at gas stations twice in the morning and evening.
"From the report of Pertamina Malang City, Iwan said at least 7.200 kiloliters of fuel had been prepared as an effort to ensure the distribution of basic food supplies and transportation in Malang City runs smoothly," he concluded. (iu/yn)
