Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – Handling the problem of flooding and waterlogging that often occurs at several points during heavy rain is the focus of the Malang City Government (Pemkot) to be resolved immediately. Acceleration efforts are also being carried out, as seen when the Acting Mayor of Malang, Iwan Kurniawan, together with related regional apparatuses, reviewed several points that were included in the priority for handling.
The three review points conducted on Thursday afternoon (19/12/2024) were the Jalan Soekarno Hatta area, Jalan Jaksa Agung Suprapto and Jalan Bondowoso. The Acting Mayor of Malang said that one of the biggest problems in handling this flood was related to the budget. For the Jalan Soekarno Hatta area, funding from the province of around IDR 30 billion and a budget from the APBD of IDR 1,6 billion has been received. Meanwhile, the other two points are currently in the stage of submitting a budget proposal to the central government.
"We reviewed several points that are included in the priority of handling flood issues. In the 11 priority programs that I identified, one of them focuses on flood management in the Soekarno-Hatta area. Alhamdulillah, the Soehat area has been budgeted. We have met with the province, ensuring that the budget is available in 2025 and ready to be executed, maybe at the end of January," explained Iwan when met after the review.
From the review results, Iwan revealed the need for a cross-stakeholder coordination meeting such as Telkom, Perumda Tugu Tirta, PLN, and other related stakeholders to discuss the construction of drainage as an effort to handle flooding in Soehat. The goal is that the implementation of the drainage construction can be carried out smoothly according to the planned steps.
"Next, there are priority points, namely on Jalan Jaksa Agung Suprapto and Jalan Bondowoso. We see that these two points need attention and priority to resolve the problems we face. We will make a proposal to the center for the 2026 budget, we focus on ministries and institutions to support this," he said.
A complete proposal with all required documents has now been prepared after previously conducting an audience with Bappenas and the Ministry of Public Works. Based on the results of the afternoon review, it turns out that on Jalan Bondowoso there is an existing drainage that needs to be checked further and repaired so that it is necessary to budget for completion.
"Later we will connect it into one unit to what we will propose. It so happens that the master plan already exists, so this is an easy thing for us to follow up on. Hopefully the one in the Soehat area has been resolved, our biggest problem is the budget. One point has been completed, the budget is funded by the province. For the other two points, we will focus on proposing from the APBN to Bappenas, the Ministry of PU, and also the province," he concluded. (yul/yn)
