Mother's Day, a Moment to Remember Women's Role in Development
Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The celebration of National Defense Day and Mother's Day is not just an annual agenda, but a calling of the soul to remember the services of the nation's heroes and honor the struggle and role of Indonesian women. This was conveyed by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Iwan Kurniawan in his speech when he became the Inspector of the Ceremony for the 76th National Defense Day and 96th Mother's Day at Malang City Hall, Sunday (22/12/2024).
As mandated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Iwan conveyed the theme of the 76th National Defense Day Commemoration in 2024, namely 'Encourage National Defense for Advanced Indonesia', inviting all Indonesian citizens, including the City of Malang to continue to make real contributions that are reflected in the ideological, political, economic, socio-cultural, educational, technological, defense, and security sectors in order to realize an advanced Indonesia.
"In addition, it is also important to live as a nation and state by implementing the five basic values of national defense, namely love for the homeland, awareness of the nation and state, belief in Pancasila, willingness to sacrifice, and initial national defense skills, which are the foundation for forming a strong mental and physical," explained Iwan.
In this special moment, the composition of the ceremony officers is almost entirely filled by women. Starting from the ceremony commander to the ceremony participants filled by women from the ranks of the TNI, Polri, Satpol PP, Dishub, PKK, Dharma Wanita and ASN in the Malang City Government environment.
On this occasion, the Acting Mayor of Malang emphasized that the commemoration of the 96th Mother's Day carries a strong message about how great and noble the role of women is in building the foundation of the nation, as well as remembering how Indonesian women have participated in the struggle to realize independence in the spirit of an equal and just movement.
"I hope that women will continue to work, be able to become independent, creative, innovative figures and continue to improve their quality and capabilities, so that they can become a great force and contribute to the development of our beloved Malang City," she concluded.
The ceremony, which was also attended by the ranks of Forkopimda and regional apparatus in the Malang City Government, was closed with the excitement of the Nusantara Flashmob which was enthusiastically followed by all invited guests and ceremony participants. (yul/yn)
