UMKM Upgrading Festival Realizes Next Level UMKM

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – As an effort to encourage micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Malang City Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service (Diskopindag) invited 100 MSMEs from various sectors to enliven the Gebyar MSME Naik Kelas at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) Malang City, 27-31 December 2024. Acting (Pj.) Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan who was present and opened the event said that the Gebyar MSME Naik Kelas was held as an effort to introduce and promote MSMEs in Malang City.

100 MSMEs participated in the activity entitled MSMEs Next Level 'Turning Small Steps Into Big Success'  This is the result of a curation conducted on a total of 21.270 MSMEs in Malang City. The 100 invited MSMEs are expected to be role models and motivation for other MSMEs to also 'move up a class' which is also part of 11 priority programs during the leadership of Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan.

"The participating MSMEs have gone through several reviews from Bappeda and Diskopindag, then a sample of 100 was taken from around 21.270 MSMEs in Malang City. Once again, this is just a lesson learned, there are 100 MSMEs that we are encouraging to move up a class, so that they can provide motivation to other MSMEs," he explained, Friday (27/12/2024).

Iwan said that Gebyar UMKM is one of the strategic events that is part of the series of year-end events. The Malang City Government also issued a circular for regional apparatus to attend and shop for participating UMKM products, so that it can increase the economic turnover from the activity.

"Hopefully our good intentions to increase the leverage of other MSMEs and increase the commitment of the 100 participating MSMEs to be better in the future can be realized," he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of Diskopindag of Malang City, Eko Sri Yuliadi explained that Gebyar UMKM is a form of concern from the Malang City Government towards UMKM actors in Malang City. "This is a great potential to attract buyers, where one of them can also have an effect on increasing productivity and turnover," he explained.

Eko explained that MSMEs are an extraordinary potential for Malang City. Not only in demand at the regional and national levels, Malang City MSMEs are even in demand at the international level, as evidenced by the large number of MSMEs that export abroad. This certainly contributes to increasing economic growth in Malang City

"From 2023, our economic growth has been seen to be the highest, both in East Java and nationally. The main factor of economic growth in Malang City is largely supported by food and beverage, accommodation and transportation businesses. This means that the role of MSMEs is quite significant," he concluded. (iu/yn)
