Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) will move a number of equipment Flood Early Warning System (EWS) or Early Warning System for potential flooding from locations that are considered less strategic to areas that need it more. This is done as an effort to mitigate flood disasters, especially those triggered by river overflows.

The plan to move the early warning system equipment was carried out based on the flooding that hit residents around the Amprong River in Lesanpuro Village and Madyopuro Village some time ago.
Head of BPBD Malang City, Prayitno when met, Monday (6/1/2025) revealed that his party will remap more strategic EWS placement points. One of the EWS devices that is planned to be moved is the one on Jalan Danau Ranau, Sawojajar Village, Kedungkandang District.
"At that location, when heavy rains do not have much impact because the puddles are only on the highway and do not submerge residents' houses. We plan to move to the Lesanpuro area," Prayitno explained.
The transfer of EWS was mentioned as a way to overcome the limitations and effectiveness of existing tools. The reason is, for 2025, the procurement of EWS has not been budgeted. "However, if the need or addition of this tool is urgent, we will submit it," he explained.
The price of this EWS varies, starting from IDR 3,5 million to IDR 150 million depending on the features. "We hope that later if our application is accepted, we can buy an EWS with high sensitivity, so that residents have a longer evacuation time, about 10 minutes before the flood comes," concluded Prayitno.
