Chess Coach of Malang City Porprov Team, Iqro Musa Putra revealed that his team continues to train and prepare its athletes to compete in Batu City which is the venue for the chess sport. "The 12 athletes currently being prepared are selected chess players who have passed the selection from 21 chess players from Malang City who have undergone training camps since 2024," explained Iqro, Wednesday (15/1/2025).
The 12 chess players from Malang City who have been prepared consist of six male chess players, namely Faza Khoiri Nur Afdi, Fernando Agus Saputra Pribadi, Kurniawan Umbu Toda, Arjuna Satria, Pratama Kevin and Mousa Hamdalah. In the women's sector, the chess players who have been prepared are Nisrina Almira Tsabita, Adhie Kharismatul Fajria, Amelia Amanda, Titah Gayatri, Naura Atika, and Devani Natahir.
Likewise, the Head of Percasi Malang City Thatit Boedhy Sucahyo confirmed that his party had prepared well the 12 athletes who would be sent to compete later. "To hone their abilities, in February and April of 2025 the children will undergo a try out by participating in the national championship in Surabaya or Jakarta," explained Budi.
He added, currently Percasi Malang City has also mapped the strength of the opponents that will be faced in the upcoming IX East Java Porprov. Budi said the areas that the men's team must be wary of are from Jember Regency and Kediri City, while for the women's team from Sidoarjo Regency, Tulungagung and Banyuwangi Regency.
Budi emphasized that the abilities of his athletes were already very good, and had been proven by the strict selection that had been carried out. "The point is that the children are ready to face the IX Porprov in Batu City. The children have also undergone intensive training so that later they can appear with the best abilities," said Budi.
On the same occasion, one of the male chess players from Malang City, Faza Khoiri Nur Afdi, is determined to achieve the best results in Porprox IX East Java. Currently, he continues to do various exercises to hone his skills.
