Supporting Food Self-Sufficiency 2025, 80 Hectares of Agricultural Land Prepared

Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – In order to realize the 2025 Food Self-Sufficiency Program, the Ministry of Agriculture together with the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) initiated a simultaneous corn planting program on one million hectares of land throughout Indonesia, Tuesday (21/1/2025). Even so, Malang City is part of the program which is a strategic step to increase local food security. In Malang City, this online activity is centered at the Tlogowaru Fish Seed Center, Kedungkang District.

Head of the Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan), Slamet Husnan Hariadi said that in order to encourage food security efforts in accordance with the Asta Cita echoed by President Prabowo. Around 80 hectares of land have been prepared for the 2024-2025 planting season. "For Malang City, we have planted corn commodities in December with the ranks of the Malang City Police and later we will also plant rice seeds with the ranks of the Malang City Kodim 0833," he said.

Slamet added, Dispangtan Malang City has also distributed assistance in the form of corn seeds to farmers. "We procured 600 kilograms of corn seeds and distributed them to seven farmer groups in Kedungkandang District. In addition, the farmers themselves also procured them independently. The types of corn are the Pertiwi-6 and MPM varieties, including super early maturing hybrid corn," said Slamet.

Dispangtan not only provides corn seeds, but also provides assistance in the form of rice seeds, insecticides, pesticides, and rice grain safety nets. "We have also proposed the procurement of subsidized fertilizers at the end of last year and realized it at the beginning of the year. Alhamdulillah, in January there has been a distribution of fertilizers. For the beginning of this year, a total of 500 tons for urea fertilizer, while for NPK as much as 625 tons. Usually in the middle of the year it can be added," he continued.

Regarding agricultural tools and machinery (alsintan), the Head of the Agriculture Service revealed that his party also received Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support from Bank Indonesia in the form of 11 hand tractors, 50 rolls of mulch, 20 water tanks, and 20 electric hand sprayers.
