Bakesbangpol Malang City Provides Anti-Drug Socialization for Teenagers

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In order to realize a young generation free from drugs, the National Unity and Politics Agency (Bakesbangpol) of Malang City held a socialization of the dangers of drugs, Wednesday (5/2/2025). The activity held at the Gajahmada Graha Hotel was attended by the Children's Forum, Child Protection Agency, Child Social Welfare Agency, Genre Ambassadors, and women's observers.

Acting Head of Bakesbangpol Malang City Alie Mulyanto said that this activity is a form of nationalism, because to maintain the integrity of the nation, a quality generation is needed, including being free from drugs. "We hope that all of you who are present here can become agents of change and spread this information. Inviting peers to become a quality young generation and far from drugs," said Alie.

Acting Head of Public Health Division of Malang City Health Office Meifta Ita Winindar who was a resource person in this socialization conveyed about the health impacts for drug users on families and communities. In addition to the dangers of drugs, Meiftah also explained about mental disorders that are often experienced related to drug abuse. "Usually they experience depression, psychosis, developmental disorders, behavioral disorders, alcohol abuse disorders, and self-harm. The prevalence of people with depression >18 years in Malang City is 10.21 and is the highest in East Java Province," she said.

Also present was the Analyst for Counseling and Information Services of the National Narcotics Agency of Malang City, Agung Dwi Wicaksono as a resource person. Agung revealed that based on education level, teenagers who were caught in drug abuse were dominated by high school/vocational school students with a total of 47,70%, followed by college students, junior high school students, and even elementary school students. "These teenagers are trapped by curiosity, easily influenced, prestige because they want to be accepted in groups, and frustration," he concluded. (ari/yn)
