Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan appreciated the performance of all levels of the Malang City Government. Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan said that the progress of the implementation of the eleven priority development programs in Malang City cannot be separated from the contribution and dedication given by the state civil apparatus (ASN) to realize it. According to him, this is the foundation in creating a legacy that will be beneficial for the future of Malang City.

"When I was inaugurated as Acting Mayor of Malang, I wanted to do what could be our legacy for Malang City. Legacy is just a legacy, but legacy is one of the levers for us to be enthusiastic about working. To create something useful, both for the Malang City Government and for the community," explained Iwan when giving direction in the Coordination Meeting for the Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Government Implementation with the ranks of the Malang City Government at the Islamic Center of Malang City, Friday (7/2/2024).
On this occasion, Pj. Iwan expressed his pride. "I feel proud! Eleven priority programs formulated through the problem spending that I studied have shown progress. However, I want to emphasize that all these achievements would not have been realized without the support and extraordinary performance of all ASN of Malang City Government," he appreciated.
Moreover, he said that the excellent performance of the Malang City Government staff had also led him to achieve the Best Acting Mayor award as determined by the Minister of Home Affairs in December 2024. Iwan achieved the highest score of 84,00 among all other Acting Mayors in Indonesia. "Once again, I appreciate all the staff who have always brought me to the stage. There are so many reward that I got, and this is all thanks to the performance of all my colleagues. I would like to thank you for the collaboration that has been built. Keep it up and improve it,” said Iwan.
For information, Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan has successfully led the progress of eleven priority programs, including flood management in the Suhat area which is certain to be realized this year. This program has also received approval and funding allocation through the East Java Provincial Budget. Furthermore, the construction of the Kayutangan Heritage parking area supports high tourism activities.
Significant progress is also seen in the revitalization of the Big Market, which includes various strategic steps such as intensive communication with traders' associations, preparation of... Engineering Design Details (DED), as well as the fulfillment of other technical document requirements. Iwan has also initiated communication with the Ministry of Public Works regarding financing to ensure the smooth running of this project and its sustainability.
Iwan also succeeded in delivering Malang City to become the location for implementing the LSDP program in Malang City and making it a model for waste management for other areas through the Supit Urang TPA. Next is the achievement of handling Out-of-School Children which has decreased significantly and continues to progress, then collaboration with the Corporate Social Responsibility Forum (TSP) in modernizing TPS, renovating elementary school buildings, Integrated Social Movements, and encouraging next-level MSMEs. Including successfully overseeing the success of the implementation of regional head elections in Malang City.
"Formulating eleven priority programs, compiling their foundations, and realizing them with full support from all levels of the apparatus is an unforgettable experience. And I have never had an experience like this during my work. Alhamdulillah, I was given the mandate as Acting Mayor of Malang, so that I can get this valuable opportunity," he said with emotion.
Finally, Iwan also reminded that the spirit of cooperation of all apparatuses can continue to be maintained and improved. He emphasized that only with joint commitment and innovation, Malang City can continue to develop and advance. "What we have achieved together, various progress from eleven priority programs is the result of extraordinary collaboration.
