The opening of the Puslatkot began with a morning assembly led by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Iwan Kurniawan at the Gajayana Stadium Mini Soccer Field, Friday (2/2025/XNUMX).
"I appreciate what the Malang City Government has done together with KONI, which has carried out stages starting from pre-Puslatkot and then today we are carrying out Puslatkot. This is our effort to provide readiness, both physically and in terms of determination, commitment to all of us, including athletes to be able to present the best achievements for Malang City in organizing the IX East Java Porprov," explained Iwan.
On that occasion, the Acting Mayor of Malang left three messages of success. "Successful implementation, successful security, and successful achievements. Successful implementation is measured from the readiness and success in terms of infrastructure, festive aspects, economic and tourism aspects that lead to the satisfaction of participants and the public," he explained.

"Finally, as the host, successful achievements include determination to achieve the best achievements, achievements to become the overall champion and achievements that carve out record records and place Malang City athletes as a warehouse of athletes in East Java on the national and international stage," he said.
Iwan also advised stakeholders, coaches, officials, and athletes to join hands, synergize, have the same spirit and commitment to improve the achievements of Malang City in the IX Porprov arena.
"We hope that the athletes can fight as hard as possible so that Malang City becomes the overall champion. We pray that all sports will become the overall champion for the implementation of the IX East Java Porprov. I also hope that the coaches and officials will continue to provide guidance, supervision, and assistance to provide motivation to the athletes," he said.
As the joint host of Batu City and Malang Regency, Malang City will welcome athletes from all over East Java as best as possible. "It is estimated that over eight days, 25 thousand people will come to Malang City to participate in the Porprov. Hopefully that will provide multiply effect "which is very good, especially regarding increasing local revenue for us to contribute to the development of Malang City," he said.
Previously, in 2023, Malang City athletes had participated in the pre-Puslatkot to advance to the Puslatkot stage. This Puslatkot will be held on February 15 to the end of May with a total of 1.142 athletes and officials from 53 sports branches who are also registered to participate in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.
