Farewell Ceremony of Acting Mayor Iwan Kurniawan with the Malang City Government Staff

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The emotional atmosphere was clearly implied in the morning assembly of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the Malang City Government (Pemkot) environment, Monday (17/2/2025). The morning assembly which was a moment of farewell for the Acting (Pj.) Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan as his term of office in Malang City was about to end.

Serving since August 10, 2024, the Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan expressed his pride and gratitude for being part of Malang City. During his tenure, Iwan revealed that various achievements and awards have been received, and this is a manifestation of the spirit of integrity shown not only by the ranks of the Malang City Government, but also the entire Malang City community who contributed to helping him while leading Malang City.

Without hesitation, he won the Best Acting Mayor award within six months of serving. "If it were not for the extraordinary human resources, it would not have been possible for me to often go on stage and receive awards. Maybe around 17 or 23 awards that I received. Of course it is a pride for me personally, and a life record for me including from the Minister of Home Affairs who gave me the best performance assessment," he said.

Iwan assessed that Malang City is a city that already has a solid APBD structure. "Malang City already has an extraordinary APBD structure in my opinion. Increase its PAD, which will be one of the strategic steps to innovate and be creative," he added.

Iwan further advised the Malang City Government to continue to collaborate and synergize with various parties. According to him, that way, fundamental programs that truly have an impact on public services can be realized and implemented. Iwan further hopes that contributions to Malang City, both large and small, will be created, which will also play a role in increasing Malang City's PAD. He hopes that in 2026, 57 percent of Malang City's income will come from PAD, and 42 percent from transfer funds so that it can provide extraordinary improvements for Malang City.

"Continue to be trustworthy, increase collaboration and synergy with various parties. Make it a good learning experience to be improved, emulated and implemented later, and if there is something that is not good, fix it, then leave it," he concluded with a message. (iu/yn)
