Active Role of Various Parties is Needed to Handle Waste Problems

Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso invited all parties to participate in waste management. This invitation was conveyed when he was present as a resource person in the agenda of Absorbing the Aspirations of Malang City DPRD Members 2025 Lea Mahdarina at Ning ed-Hotel Malang, Monday (17/2/2025).

Erik revealed that the issue of waste is still an environmental problem in various regions, including in Malang City. In a recess period like this, he said that activities like this are very positive and can be a medium for sharing knowledge and science. "Through this activity, let's together give the best for Malang City, including in terms of waste management," explained Erik.

Through activities like this, he also said that it is also a moment to convey the aspirations of the council members to the executive to then be followed up, including regarding the issue of waste which has been a common problem. "Waste is currently a problem that is increasingly felt to be urgent. If it is not handled properly, it will have an impact on various things, starting from health, flooding and various other social problems," explained Erik.

The amount of waste in Malang City is currently increasing along with the increasing population. For this reason, he emphasized that waste management has become a priority program of the Malang City Government. "It needs to be a shared concern that waste management is not only the responsibility of the government, but requires active involvement from various elements of society to reduce waste generation in Malang City," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Malang City DPRD member Lea Mahdarina expressed her appreciation for the presence of the Malang City Regional Secretary in the recess with the community this time. "Today we deliberately invited the Regional Secretary to the aspiration absorption period which raised the theme of waste.

According to Lea, waste management will be a benchmark for the face of Malang City, because from good waste management, of course, the face of Malang City that is clean, neat, and organized can be formed.
