Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – After the simultaneous democratic party which was successfully held, the General Election Commission (KPU) of Malang City held Focus Group Discussions (FGD) Preparation of the 2024 Election Evaluation Report attended by various elements at the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama Hotel on 24-25 February 2025.

Among others, media crews, representatives of campaign teams from three pairs of mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and independent monitoring institutions for the democratic party. This FGD is one of the facilitations for evaluating the KPU's performance during the implementation of the democratic party, both evaluations related to the budget, implementation process, community participation, dispute resolution and others.
Those were some of the things conveyed by the Commissioner of the Malang City KPU, Nur El Fathi after the FGD, Tuesday (25/2/2025). He said that the FGD produced many positive points because the FGD participants provided a lot of input, criticism, and constructive suggestions.
Fathi gave examples, such as community findings related to indications of campaign violations, budget use by the KPU, use of the Sirekap application and handling of public complaints after the voting. "The results of this FGD will later be reported or submitted to the East Java KPU and will be forwarded to the Central KPU. All KPUs in districts/cities carry out FGDs like this, so that later it will become evaluation material in the next democratic party," explained Fathi.
The holding of this FGD received appreciation from various parties, one of which was from Bakesbangpol Malang City as a regional apparatus within the Malang City Government that oversees the implementation of the democratic party. Head of Domestic Politics and Mass Organizations of Bakesbangpol Malang City, Yuni Lestari said that the implementation of the election stages in Malang City was running optimally.
"We, the regional apparatus, are always involved in every stage of the election by the KPU and Bawaslu. We also monitor, such as the installation of Campaign Equipment (APK), the arrival of election logistics, damaged ballots and others," said the woman in a hijab when met after the FGD event.
He also appreciated the FGD, because according to him, various elements of society can convey what they saw or experienced during the election. "Of course this is very good so that the implementation of the next election will be even better," he added.
On this occasion, the Malang City KPU also launched a book entitled 'Dynamics of the 2024 Malang City Pilkada″. The book is also a documentation of the KPU's performance which describes the challenges, obstacles and strategies of the KPU commissioners during the process, implementation and post-election.
