Minor Criminal Trial for Violators of Malang City Regional Regulations at the Malang City Civil Service Police Unit Office

Head of Malang City Satpol PP Heru Mulyono revealed that the regulations violated included Malang City Regulation No. 2 of 2012 concerning Public Order and the Environment, Malang City Regulation No. 2 of 2022 concerning Advertising Organization, Regulation No. 7 of 2021 concerning Waste Management, and Malang City Regional Regulation No. 4 of 2020 concerning Control and Supervision of Alcoholic Beverages. All violations were immediately decided by the judge, and specifically for the minor criminal trial related to waste, today's trial is the first.

Heru said that this minor criminal trial was the result of a joint operation some time ago in several places, including Jalan Danau Jonge, Jalan Soekarno-Hatta and Jalan Merdeka or the Alun-Alun Merdeka area.

"Previously we have conducted socialization, warnings or reprimands to residents or traders and business actors. However, it was not heeded, so we took action in order to enforce the regional regulation," he said.

Of the total 27 violators caught, 13 were present and 14 other violators were sentenced to default by the judge. "The fine for violators of this bylaw is in accordance with the minor violation committed, or the level of violation, ranging from Rp50 thousand to millions of rupiah," he explained.

Referring to regional regulations, Heru explained that the maximum fine is IDR 50 million or a maximum of three months imprisonment and a minimum fine of IDR 50 thousand. But this time the judge adjusted to the conditions in the field. "For street vendors, there are those who are charged starting from IDR 100 thousand, IDR 75 thousand, and IDR 50 thousand depending on the type of violation. For those who are defaulting, the fine is doubled," explained the bespectacled man. (say/yn)
