Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The People's Coalition for Food Sovereignty (KRKP) together with the East Java Community and Development Research Institute (LPKP) in collaboration with the Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) held Focus Group Discussions (FGD) in the Malang City Dispangtan meeting room, Thursday (27/2/2025). This FGD was held to reflect on the implementation of the 2020-2026 Regional Food and Nutrition Action Plan (RAD PG) as well as the formation of multi-stakeholder Our City Food forum marked by the signing of a joint commitment.

The FGD attended by 19 people from various related elements was opened by the Sub Coordinator of Consumption Diversification and Food Security of the Malang City Food and Agriculture Service, M. Ridwan. In his speech, Ridwan gave his appreciation to the participants and the Pangan Kota Kita program who have shown concern about urban food.
"Malang City is currently still in the resilience stage and is not doing well, especially for young people. Thank you to KRKP and LPKP who have initiated the Pangan Kota Kita program to create a sovereign urban food system in accordance with the vision and mission of the Mayor of Malang," explained Ridwan.
In addition to forming a forum multi-stakeholder, This FGD also aims to encourage the creation of a resilient, sovereign and inclusive urban food policy, one of which is through the formation of the 2025-2030 RAD PG by involving multi-stakeholder.
"One of the strategic objectives of RAD PG is to provide guidance and increase the role of local governments and other stakeholders in creating family food and nutrition security," explained resource person Prof. Dr. Teti Estiasih, STP, MP.

"PKK Malang City in collaboration with Dispangtan has carried out community empowerment and training in each sub-district. In addition, there are efforts to encourage people to take sufficient food because of the high number of cases. food waste in Malang City, which is mostly contributed by household waste. "We have started and invited families and the surrounding community to get involved in the movement to take enough food to reduce household waste and switch to local food ingredients. This work requires seriousness and support from various parties, not only the government," explained the activist urban farming and organic vegetable farmer, Titik.
Various experiences, both regarding efforts to create a resilient, sovereign and inclusive urban food system, have received support from various parties to contribute to each other according to their respective roles.
