Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The handover of office (Sertijab) from Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan to the Mayor of Malang and Deputy Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat-Ali Muthohirin was held in the Meeting Room of the Malang City DPRD, Sunday (2/3/2025). This handover was combined with a Plenary Meeting with the agenda of delivering remarks by the Mayor of Malang and the Governor of East Java.
This plenary meeting was led by the Chairman of the Malang City DPRD, Amithya Ratnanggani Sirraduhita and attended by the Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak, the ranks of the Malang City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Malang City Regional Secretary, and the ranks of regional apparatus within the Malang City Government.
In his speech, Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Dardak expressed his appreciation for the dedication of Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan. “I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Iwan Kurniawan who has served for the past six months in overseeing the development of Malang City. He comes from the Directorate General of Regional Development, with relevant competencies. We hope that he can continue to oversee the development of Malang City and East Java in the future. Let us give him our appreciation,” said Emil.
Meanwhile, Emil advised the newly inaugurated definitive Mayor of Malang to prioritize resolving various problems periodically. “One of the priorities in the first 100 days of Mrs. Khofifah and I is to handle flooding. One of the flood points in Malang City is on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta. Therefore, in the next few weeks, we will focus on utilizing funds of Rp32 billion to overcome this problem. The handling will be done in stages, not all at once. Let's overcome the problems in Malang City, starting from flooding, congestion, to parking issues," Emil invited.
On the same occasion, the Mayor of Malang, Wahyu Hidayat, emphasized that he and the Deputy Mayor of Malang will immediately move actively in accordance with the vision and mission that have been designed. "I and the Deputy Mayor will immediately action. God willing, next Monday we will meet with all ASN. We will work optimally, especially in realizing our political promises," said Wahyu.
Responding to the Deputy Governor of East Java, Wahyu confirmed that the Malang City Government received assistance from the East Java Provincial Government amounting to Rp32 billion to overcome the problem of waterlogging in Malang City, "This assistance is one of our priorities. Actually, we have been trying this process for several years, and thank God now we are getting assistance from the province to handle the flood," he explained.
Wahyu further said that to resolve various problems in Malang City, his party will discuss further with the East Java Provincial Government and involve areas in Malang Raya. "Solving this problem cannot be limited to the administrative area of Malang City alone. We also get support from the Provincial Government (East Java). And because this is related to Malang Raya, Batu City and Malang Regency must also be involved. The problems of flooding and parking, for example, are related to the Malang Raya area as a whole," he concluded. (zie/yn)
