Mayor of Malang Visits Ainul Hayat I Farmer Group and Egg-Laying Chicken Farm

Kedungkandandang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) continues to strive to suppress the rate of inflation through various programs and policies. This time, Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat together with Malang Deputy Mayor Ali Muthohirin and the Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) reviewed and symbolically harvested chilies with the Ainul Hayat I Farmer Group (Poktan) in Baran Village, Wonokoyo Village, Kedungkandang District, Thursday (13/3/2025).

The first harvest on the 8.000 square meter land is not only to increase the availability of chili in Malang City, but also aims to suppress price spikes that often occur in the market, especially approaching the Eid al-Fitr moment. The type of chili harvested is caliber chili which is known as one of the best varieties.

"Alhamdulillah, even though we are in Malang City, there is still quite a large area of agricultural land. This harvest is an important step in maintaining the stability of chili prices in Malang City, so that we are not too dependent on supplies from outside the city," said Wahyu.

From this harvest, it is expected to help offset the price of chili which continues to increase in the market. In addition to the location, Wahyu said that in Malang City there are still chili farming areas in several other areas such as Merjosari Village, Lowokwaru District which reaches around 30 hectares.

After harvesting chilies, Wahyu Hidayat continued his visit to the laying hen farm to review the price of eggs at the farmer level. Wahyu noted that the price of eggs at the farm had decreased from IDR 23.000 to IDR 22.000 per kilogram. However, previously when his party conducted a review, the price of eggs in the market was still at IDR 28.000 per kilogram. Therefore, his party plans to conduct further checks to reduce the price of basic commodities ahead of the holiday.

"We want to ensure that market prices remain stable. For stocks of basic commodities, including chilies and eggs, they are still safe. Every day, this farm produces around 300 kilograms of eggs, so the supply is always available," he explained.

With various efforts made, the Malang City Government hopes that the price of chili and eggs can be more affordable for the community, as well as the availability of basic necessities in a safe condition with stable prices, especially ahead of big days such as Eid al-Fitr. (yul/yn)
