Cemorokandang Subdistrict Educates on Waste Management Using the Loseda System

Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Cemorokandang Village, Kedungkandang District, held training on household organic waste management through Lodong Sesa Dapur (Loseda) for healthy working groups (pokja) and environmental cadres in Cemorokandang Village, Friday (14/3/2025).

Secretary of Cemorokandang Sub-district, Misnan, said that this training activity was to support the program. zero waste, which is an effort to invite the community to be wise in managing household waste. "We hope that after participating in this training, participants can apply the knowledge they have gained in their respective areas," Misnan hoped.

The training, which was attended by 15 representatives of the Healthy Working Group and 15 environmental cadres from each RW in Cemorokadang Village, presented speakers from the Eltari M-230 Waste Bank, Cemorokandang Village, Malang City, who have long been involved in household waste management.

Misnan hopes that from this training, the healthy working group cadres and environmental cadres will be more active and play a role in various environmental activities, starting from waste management, reforestation and also public health education.

"Hopefully today's activities can be an inspiration for all residents. More enthusiastic in maintaining, preserving, and more concerned about the environment," Misnan hoped again.

In addition, it is also hoped that this activity can increase public awareness to implement clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) which aims to maintain and create a clean and healthy environment, which in turn can achieve public health and quality of life.

Meanwhile, the speaker from the Eltari M-230 Waste Bank, Yusup Karyawan, revealed that the Loseda waste management system is a simple and effective method of managing household organic waste, by utilizing kitchen waste to make compost using pipes or PVC pipes planted vertically in the ground.

"After the organic waste is put in, then given a decomposer from rice washing water and molasses. After that, wait for two to three months, the compost harvest can be done," explained Yusup.

Moreover, Yusup said with proper handling, waste will no longer be a problem, instead it can become useful and economically valuable items, starting from fertilizer, animal feed, craft products, and various other processed products. (cah/yn)
