MONALIKA, Mobile Immunization Car to Prevent Stunting at Arjowinangun Health Center

Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Stunting is still a major challenge in creating a healthy, resilient, and quality golden generation. One important step in preventing stunting is ensuring that children receive complete and timely immunizations. To support this, the Arjowinangun Health Center presents the innovation of the Village Mobile Immunization Service (MONALIKA), which has been running since June 2023.

Toddler immunization services at Arjowinangun Health Center

Using the method of going directly to the community, MONALIKA provides basic and advanced immunization services for toddlers. The presence of this car ensures that more children can be reached without being constrained by distance or access to health facilities. This program is carried out routinely once a month, so that immunization coverage can continue to increase consistently.

Since its launch, the program has served more than 300 toddlers with tangible results. If at the beginning of 2022 the immunization coverage was still at 68%, now after the MONALIKA program was implemented, the achievement has increased significantly. In 2023 the immunization coverage reached 80,3%, and continued to increase to 89,9% in 2024.

Increasing the scope of immunization is an important step in protecting children from various diseases that can hinder their growth and development. With MONALIKA, parents are increasingly facilitated in providing immunizations to their children without having to go far to health facilities.

This is in line with the direction of Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat, who said that collaborative steps are needed from all parties in preventing and overcoming stunting. "The problem of stunting is not the business of certain groups or regional apparatuses, but is a shared responsibility, both institutionally and personally," explained the Mayor of Malang, Saturday (22/3/2025).

The Mayor of Malang also conveyed several directions to accelerate the reduction of stunting from upstream to downstream, by continuing to encourage sub-districts and villages to create innovations to reduce stunting rates. Then strengthening collaboration between sub-districts and villages with local health centers and communities and institutions has given birth to various innovations and strategies in several villages with the same goal, namely reducing stunting.
