Maintain Inflation Ahead of Eid, Malang City TPID Will Take These Steps

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) continues to be committed to supporting the central government's program in efforts to control inflation, especially ahead of the National Religious Holiday (HBKN) Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah. This was conveyed by Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat after attending the online National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) room at Malang City Hall, Monday (24/3/2025).

Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat said that in this TPID coordination meeting, the inflation rate projection ahead of Eid al-Fitr in the previous year was conveyed. Therefore, the Ministry of Home Affairs continues to monitor strategic efforts made by TPID in the regions to stabilize the price increases that occur.

"Earlier, several commodities were mentioned that always contributed to inflation before Eid al-Fitr in previous years, such as chicken meat, chicken eggs and shallots. For 2025, what needs to be watched out for are cayenne pepper, shallots and chicken meat. Then it was also conveyed that several things should be done by the regional TPID, such as monitoring prices and availability of basic necessities in the market," he explained.

On this occasion, Wahyu advised the Malang City TPID to strive to maintain price stability and availability of basic necessities, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr which often shows a trend of increasing prices for certain commodities. Wahyu also emphasized that the availability of Fuel Oil (BBM) ahead of Eid must be available and controlled.

"In addition to maintaining price stability and availability of basic necessities, what needs to be watched out for is the increase in demand for fuel ahead of the Eid homecoming. For that reason, this week, in addition to market inspections, especially at Pasar Induk Gadang and to Bulog to monitor the availability of main staples, I have also assigned the Malang City TPID to monitor Pertamina to ensure that fuel stocks are safe," he said.
