Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government has confirmed its commitment to ensure that all workers in Malang City receive employment social security. This was conveyed by the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ali Muthohirin when he attended and opened the Coordination Meeting for the Implementation of Employment Social Security in Malang City at the Santika Hotel, Malang City, Thursday (26/3/2025).

Deputy Mayor Ali Muthohirin said that this activity is part of the implementation of Malang City Regional Regulation Number 6 of 2024 concerning the Malang City Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD) 2025-2045. This program aims to fulfill the social and economic rights of the community and strengthen the foundation of sustainable and inclusive development. "Therefore, employment protection is very important as a fundamental aspect that is of concern to all of us," said Ali.
Employment social security is expected to provide certainty for workers in facing work risks and create a safer and more productive work environment. Therefore, the Malang City Government wants to ensure that the implementation of the BPJS Employment program can run optimally in all labor sectors in Malang City.
Ali also highlighted the importance of reaching all segments of workers, including formal, informal, and vulnerable workers. Currently, of the approximately 400.000 workers in Malang City, only around 32 percent have registered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. In the future, the Malang City Government is targeting an increase in membership of up to ten percent each year.
"The Malang City Government is very committed to encouraging BPJS Employment participation, because comprehensive employment protection contributes to social stability and sustainable economic growth," said Ali.
On this occasion, the Deputy Mayor also invited all parties to jointly raise awareness of the importance of social protection for workers. "In the next five years, we hope that the people of Malang City will have more equitable social security, so that they can realize a just Malang City, especially for vulnerable communities," he added.
Ali closed his statement by emphasizing that the synergy between the Government, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and the business world must continue to be strengthened so that no labor rights are neglected in Malang City. (cah/yn)
