Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Welcoming the 111th Anniversary of Malang City which is commemorated every April 1, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) held a 111th Anniversary Prayer of Malang City and Umara Ulama Gathering at the Baiturrahim Mosque, Malang City Hall, Thursday (27/3/2025).
A solemn and friendly atmosphere was felt in the event which was attended by the Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat, Deputy Mayor of Malang Ali Muthohirin, the ranks of the Malang City Forkopimda, the Malang City Regional Secretary, the Malang City FKUB, and other invited guests.
In his remarks, the Mayor of Malang, Wahyu Hidayat, emphasized that synergy and collaboration between the ulama and umara are very necessary in developing Malang City so that all its citizens will be more prosperous.
"It is our shared responsibility. The atmosphere of togetherness in this activity is the guardian of the ties of friendship between the ulama and umara, in order to make Malang City even more brilliant," said Wahyu.
On this occasion, Wahyu also invited all parties to pray together so that Malang City will always be in a safe and comfortable condition, and that the development carried out will run well.
"Make this year a moment for self-introspection, so that our journey forward can be even better, becoming a city that is advanced, independent, competitive, and prosperous for its people," he said in prayer.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Public Welfare (Kesra) Section of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, R. Achmad Mabrur, expressed the importance of strengthening the ties between the ulama and umara with their respective roles and functions to realize a harmonious Malang City.
"Ulama and umara have a strategic role in development, because development is not only physical, but also non-physical. So ulama cannot be separated from umara, who must synergize to realize regional progress and welfare," he explained.
At the end of the event, a joint prayer of interfaith was held led by religious leaders at a predetermined location. This joint prayer reflected the spirit of unity in diversity which is one of the main pillars in building social harmony in Malang City. (cah/hms/yn)
