Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Regional governments must be serious about going directly to the market to monitor price stability and availability of regional staples as well as regional inflation developments. This was emphasized by the Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs, Tomsi Tohir, when leading the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), Monday (28/4/2025).

In his direction, Tomsi said that the active role of TPID in each region to go directly to the market is very important, especially in conducting periodic price monitoring, as well as formulating strategic steps to anticipate spikes in the prices of main commodities.
"I ask TPID colleagues in the regions to go directly to the market, routinely check price changes and carry out steps such as coordination meetings, checks, market operations, and several other steps up to accommodation or transportation subsidy assistance," said Tomsi.
He further said that currently Indonesia's inflation rate is considered under control. Even so, Tomsi continues to emphasize to TPID in each region to always be vigilant and maintain inflation stability in their respective regions.
"We have now obtained a good sample of inflation figures for Indonesia. However, we must still maintain it and of course we must complete the task as well as possible by addressing every price increase in each region," he said.
In the coordination meeting, based on BPS report data, it was stated that historically inflation always occurs in April. This is also coupled with several important moments in April 2025, including the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. In general, in the 4th week of April 2025, there were 18 provinces that experienced an increase in IPH with the largest contributors being shallots and cayenne pepper.
Responding to this, the Assistant for Economy and Development of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Diah Ayu Kusuma Dewi, who attended the national coordination meeting with the Malang City TPID online from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Room of the Malang City Hall, said that the stock and prices of shallots and cayenne pepper in Malang City are currently under control. Even so, Diah said that the Malang City Government is committed to continuing to follow the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs in controlling inflation.
"Although currently the volatile materials are under control in Malang City, however, in accordance with the previous direction, we will continue to supervise and monitor the stability and availability of basic materials in the market," he concluded. (iu/yn)
