Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat welcomed the arrival of the Indonesian Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya at the Malang Creative Center (MCC), Tuesday (29/4/2025). The working visit of the Minister of Creative Economy was an important moment in highlighting the progress and commitment of the Malang City Government to the creative economy sector.
Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya appreciated the progressive steps of the Malang City Government which has facilitated all 17 creative economy sub-sectors, beyond the seven priority sub-sectors that are currently the focus of the ministry.
"The Minister of Creative Economy is very impressed and surprised by the attention of the Malang City Government to its creative economy. Because so far there has been no city that has focused on improving the creative economy, especially in fulfilling 17 sub-sectors," said Wahyu Hidayat when met after accompanying the Minister of Creative Economy at the MCC.
According to Wahyu, the appreciation provides new enthusiasm for creative economy actors in Malang City. The number one person in the Malang City Government emphasized that this sector is not only promising in terms of innovation, but also has great potential in creating jobs.
"We see that this sector can provide job opportunities, and with the facilitation from the local government and the ministry, creative economy players are increasingly confident that this sector will continue to grow," he added.
In addition, the Minister of Creative Economy also expressed his appreciation for the achievements that Malang City has achieved, such as the East Java Provincial Development Award for 2025 which was recently won, as well as the selection of Malang City as one of the nominees for UNESCO's World Creative City 2025. "This will be a source of pride, especially in relation to the creative economy committee and the existence of MCC," explained Wahyu.
As a form of continued commitment, Wahyu also revealed a plan to restructure regional apparatus (PD) within the Malang City Government. One of them is the establishment of the Creative Economy Service to support creative industry players in a more focused manner.
"As conveyed by the Minister, this creative economy will become a new engine. We have proven this. If we monitor and foster this creative economy, the existence of the Creative Economy Service will further assist creative economy actors in Malang City," he concluded. (yul/yn)
