Malang Mayor's Cup Chess Championship, Preparatory Event for the 2025th East Java Porprov XNUMX

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat opened the Malang Mayor's Cup Chess City Championship (Kejurkot) held at the MTsN 1 Hall of Malang City, Sunday (4/5/2025). A total of 263 athletes participated in the championship held by the All-Indonesia Chess Association (Percasi) of Malang City.

In his speech, Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat expressed his appreciation for the holding of this championship. "Kejurkot is one of the important stages in the preparation of Malang City chess athletes for the 2025 East Java Porprov. Championships like this are an evaluation event to find seeds of outstanding athletes," he said.

The number one person in the Malang City Government expressed his pride in the achievements of Malang City chess athletes who have made various achievements, both at the local, regional, and even international levels. "The next stage, there will be a provincial championship in Tulungagung to hone the abilities of athletes who will represent Malang in the 2025 East Java Porprov. We are targeting a minimum of three gold medals, but I am optimistic that it can be more, because the preparation is mature," he said confidently.

Wahyu also emphasized his commitment to continue to encourage sports achievements in Malang City. "One of our visions and missions is to bring Malang City to achieve various achievements. I advise all parties to uphold sportsmanship, and continue to support Malang City chess athletes who are our pride," he concluded by giving his support.

This chess championship is part of a series of coaching for Malang City chess athletes who are projected to appear in the IX East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) which is scheduled to be held in Malang Raya (Malang City, Malang Regency, and Batu City), as well as a place to find new talents to strengthen the Malang City chess team.
