Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijriah/2025, the Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) is ready to deploy officers to conduct intensive checks to ensure the suitability of sacrificial animals. This inspection is also to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), or other zoonotic diseases.

Head of the Animal Husbandry Division of the Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Agency, Dr. Anton Pramujiono, revealed that this examination is planned to begin on June 2-9, 2025 and will target all sub-districts in Malang City.
"This activity is also an annual routine agenda to ensure the health and suitability of sacrificial animals. Thus, it will also provide comfort for the community and animal sellers," he explained when met, Friday (16/5/2025).
The series of inspections, namely on June 2-4, will be carried out at places selling sacrificial animals in five sub-districts. While for June 5-9 which coincides with the tasyrik day, antemortem and postmortem inspections will be carried out at slaughter locations such as mosques, prayer rooms, and other sacrificial animal slaughterhouses.
According to Anton, Dispangtan is targeting to reach 7.500 sacrificial animals. The details consist of 1.800 cows, 5.200 goats, and 500 sheep whose health will be thoroughly checked by officers.
"Five teams will be deployed to five sub-districts. Each team consists of a combination of officers from Dispangtan, students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Brawijaya (UB), and students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet) UB," he explained.
Anton said, for the officers who will come down, consisting of 62 officers from Dispangtan internal, plus 400 students from FKH UB, and 250 students from Fapet UB. "We will work as hard as possible so that unwanted things do not happen," he concluded. (say/yn)
