Malang City Government Urges Qurban Committees to Follow ASUH Procedures

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Approaching Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijriah, the mobility of sacrificial animals between regions increases, so supervision becomes crucial. In addition, the process of slaughtering sacrificial animals also needs special attention. Slaughtering according to animal welfare principles will improve the quality of meat and ensure its safety for consumption.

Expert Staff for Development, Public Welfare and Human Resources of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Alie Mulyanto, giving direction

Therefore, the qurban committee should involve experienced and certified slaughterers, and establish coordination with the Slaughterhouse (RPH). Sanitation and reporting protocols must also be implemented in a disciplined manner to support the implementation of orderly, hygienic, and professional qurban.

These were some of the things conveyed by the Expert Staff for Development, People's Welfare and Human Resources of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Alie Mulyanto when opening the Antemortem and Postmortem Dissemination activity for Qurban Animal Examiners at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) Building, Jl. A Yani No. 53 Malang City, Thursday (22/5/2025).

He said that the location of the sale of sacrificial animals must also meet the requirements, such as not being close to a farm and having a safety fence. Sacrificial animals must also be accompanied by an Animal Health Certificate (SKKH) or Veterinary Certificate (SV) from the area of origin. "If sick or dead animals are found, immediately report it to the Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) for follow-up," added Alie.

After the slaughtering process is complete, Ali said that handling the meat is a very important aspect. The meat must be processed in clean conditions with sterile equipment.

During distribution, we must also pay attention to the principle of justice and avoid crowds. In the context of post-pandemic and the emergence of animal diseases such as foot and mouth disease (FMD) and LSD (Lumpy Skin Disease), the implementation of public and animal health protocols must still be implemented. "Education to the committee and the public regarding proper meat handling needs to be continuously intensified to prevent food poisoning and cross-contamination," Alie explained.

For this reason, the Malang City Government invites the entire community, the qurban committee, and all elements involved to work together to ensure the success of the implementation of a safe, healthy, complete, and halal qurban or what is known as ASUH.

In addition, Alie invited people to make the sacrifice a means to increase faith, social awareness, strengthen brotherhood, and maintain environmental cleanliness and animal health.

"With the spirit of togetherness, good coordination, and commitment from all parties, it will be possible to realize the implementation of sacrifice that is dignified, quality, and provides broad benefits for the people of Malang city," he concluded. (say/yn)
