Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City started the competition with proud results in the basketball sport, the 2025th East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) 15 at the Bimasakti GOR, Malang City, Sunday (6/2025/XNUMX).
The men's basketball team managed to defeat Jember Regency with a score of 78–54. Meanwhile, the Malang City women's team scored a big win over Lamongan Regency with a score of 169–15.
With so many people watching, the Mayor of Malang, Wahyu Hidayat, is confident that he will get the best results for Malang City because the athletes are also motivated by the cheers and enthusiasm of the audience.
Wahyu also conveyed his welcome to all contingents from districts/cities throughout East Java.
He expressed his gratitude for the East Java Provincial Government's trust in Malang City as one of the hosts of the 9th Porprov.
"The Malang City Government and I are ready to make the 2025 IX Porprov a success. Not only successful in terms of implementation, but also successful in terms of achievements, economy, and administration," he said.
Wahyu also invited all athletes and officials to uphold sportsmanship and take advantage of this momentum to enjoy the tourism and culinary potential of Malang City. This is in line with Malang City's commitment to developing the concept of sport tourism.

Previously, Wahyu also directly reviewed the equestrian athlete training in the Merjosari area, Lowokwaru District. He expressed optimism about achieving the target of Malang City in the event.
"I saw firsthand the readiness of the athletes and their horses. God willing, we can achieve the target. The facilities and infrastructure are complete, and the athletes' spirits are also very high," he said.
