Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City kicked off the 2025th East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) 17 brilliantly. As of Tuesday (6/2025/8), the Malang City contingent has collected 2 gold medals, 1 silver, and 37 bronze. This medal haul places Malang City at the top of the standings with XNUMX points, ahead of Surabaya City and Blitar Regency.
Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat admitted to being proud of this achievement and called it an initial motivation to win the overall champion title. Wahyu is also optimistic that the target set, namely 162 gold, 131 silver, and 134 bronze can be achieved, or even exceeded.
"This is just the beginning of several sports, but it has become a positive signal. Hopefully the medal tally will continue to increase," Wahyu said optimistically after releasing the Malang City contingent at Malang City Hall, Wednesday (18/6/2025).
On the same occasion, the Head of the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Agency (Disporapar) of Malang City, Baihaqi was also proud of the initial performance of the Malang City contingent. He highlighted the success of the Hapkido sport which immediately won the overall champion title. "This is extraordinary and very proud. This achievement is expected to trigger the enthusiasm of other sports," he said.
According to Baihaqi, all athletes have undergone the City Training Center (Puslatkot) and are now in optimal condition. He is confident that the physical and mental readiness of the athletes will be the key to achieving maximum performance. "We see that all sports branches are on fire. Hopefully it will remain consistent and free from obstacles during the competition," he concluded.
The Malang City Government also continues to provide full support, including by preparing bonuses for athletes who have achieved and brought honor to the city of Malang. This support is expected to further spur the fighting spirit of the entire Malang City contingent in the IX East Java Porprov event which took place in the Malang Raya area. (ari/yn)
