Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – To provide practical knowledge and skills in processing organic waste into environmentally friendly and useful compost, Tunggulwulung Village held composting training for the community and environmental cadres in the hall of the Tunggulwulung Village Office, Lowokwaru District, Malang City, Thursday (19/6/2025).

Tunggulwulung Village Head, Imbar Hadi Wintjoko, explained that this training was a continuation of the previous training which focused on making ecoenzyme. Through this composting training, it is hoped that the community will become more skilled in processing organic waste into environmentally friendly and useful products.
"With this training, we hope that environmental cadres and residents will have better skills in managing organic waste. So waste is no longer a problem, but can be a blessing," said Imbar.
The resource persons in this activity were the Head of the Lowokwaru District Environmental Cadre, Aron Sukamtanto, and a maggot processing practitioner from Griya Maggot BSF, Yusup Karyawan. The resource persons also shared applied knowledge about organic waste processing, starting from the smallest scope, namely households.
"We did invite environmental cadres, RW heads, and residents with the hope that the knowledge gained in this training can be passed on to the community in their respective environments," added Imbar.
Furthermore, Imbar said that through the composting and maggot cultivation methods, organic waste which has been a problem can be processed into compost or animal feed which has economic value.
"This activity is part of the Tunggulwulung Village community empowerment program in handling organic waste problems independently and sustainably," he said.
In addition to having an impact on reducing the volume of waste disposed of at the Final Disposal Site (TPA), the compost produced from organic waste can also be used to fertilize plants, both in the yard and in green open spaces.
"This training provides real benefits for Tunggulwulung residents. Hopefully, the community can understand the importance of organic waste processing and be able to develop it into productive activities that have economic value," concluded Imbar. (cah/yn)
