Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Malang City gave awards to 165 voluntary blood donors who have shown a high commitment to donating their blood regularly, Saturday (21/6/2025). The event held at the Harris Hotel and Conventions Malang was a form of appreciation for the dedication of the donors who have donated their blood 50 and 75 times.

Of that number, 129 people are 50-time blood donors and 36 people have donated their blood up to 75 times until 2024. This award was presented directly by the Mayor of Malang, Wahyu Hidayat.
The number one person in the Malang City Government expressed his highest appreciation to the donors as real humanitarian heroes. "The dedication of these donors is a form of extraordinary humanity. A drop of their blood can save lives. This is also part of the spirit of Dasa Bakti Ngalam Tahes, a real manifestation of the community's social concern," said Wahyu.
He also invited the public, especially the younger generation to actively participate as donors. "Let's make blood donation a good habit. We will continue to intensify socialization, because donating blood not only saves other people's lives, but also makes ourselves healthy," said Wahyu.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City PMI, Imam Buchori, said that throughout 2024, his party had served requests for 80.429 blood bags to meet the needs of 85 hospitals in Malang City and its surroundings.
"We are very grateful to the donors, especially those who have reached 50 and 75 times donors. This is a form of sincere concern without expecting anything in return. This award is a form of our appreciation and gratitude for the real contribution in saving millions of lives," explained Imam.
One of the award recipients, Yeremia Budi Nugraha, expressed his gratitude for being able to be part of this humanitarian movement. "I am happy because I can share. Donating blood is not just a routine, but a gift and pride. We will continue to contribute, as long as we are still given health to help others," said Yeremia.
This event is proof that social awareness is still very much alive in the community. It is hoped that these donors can also spread and motivate the community so that the spirit of humanitarian solidarity continues to grow in Malang City. (ari/yn)
