Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Physical limitations do not dampen the spirit of people with disabilities to play a role in the world of sports. This was clearly seen in the Malang City Police Chief Cup Amputee Football Tournament held by the Malang City Police. The competition, which was held to welcome the 79th Bhayangkara Day, was held on the field minisoccer Gajayana Stadium, Malang City, Sunday (22/6/2025).

There are six teams from various regions in East Java that are competing in the competition, namely Persama Malang, Persab Batu, Persas Surabaya, Persaid Jember, Persawangi Banyuwangi, and Persam Madura. Each team also displays skill their best to win the title.
After going through a tight match, Persama Malang finally managed to become the first champion. This achievement is real proof that disabled athletes in Malang City have great potential to compete at a higher level. Support from the government and the community is needed so that they can continue to develop and make the name of the region proud.
The Mayor of Malang, Wahyu Hidayat, who was also present, gave high appreciation for the organization of this tournament. He said that the Kapolresta Malang Kota Cup not only fosters the spirit of sports, but is also in line with the vision of regional development, namely Dasa Bakti Ngalam Tahes.
"This is a form of real attention from the Malang City Police, the City Government, and the Malang City DPRD to encourage the disabled to develop their abilities. Hopefully, this can be a provision to participate in other championships, such as the Menpora Cup," said Wahyu when handing over prizes to the winners.
As a form of ongoing support, the Malang City Government through Disporapar has facilitated Persama Malang to be able to train regularly at the Gajayana Stadium for free. "For equipment assistance, we have coordinated with the Social Service and also with the ministry. What is clear is that the facilities and infrastructure that we have now are optimized to support their needs," he continued.
On this occasion, Wahyu also invited the public to emulate the spirit of disabled athletes. "This is a lesson for us. Their spirit is a motivation for all of us to care more about health through sports. Let's together realize a better quality of life for the community," he concluded. (ari/yn)
