Kepanjen (malangkota.go.id) – The preliminary round of the beach volleyball sport branch of the 2025th East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) 23 officially began today, Monday (6/2025/42) at the Kanjuruhan Sports Hall, Malang Regency. A total of 23 teams consisting of 19 men's teams and 100 women's teams with a total of around XNUMX athletes competed in this largest provincial-level sporting event.
This year, the beach volleyball branch was participated by Malang City, Malang Regency, Sidoarjo, Surabaya, Sumenep, Lamongan, Banyuwangi, Pamekasan, Bojonegoro, Batu City, Tuban, Gresik, Pasuruan, and Mojokerto City. The majority of athletes who appeared were from high school level, which certainly strengthened the image of Porprov as a place for cultivating and developing potential young athletes in East Java.
The head coach of the Malang City beach volleyball team, Muharji, said that Malang City sent a total of 21 athletes, consisting of 11 women and 10 men. "We are participating in all the numbers being competed, two teams each for men and women, two teams for men and women, and four set sons and daughters too," he explained.
For this year's Porprov, the Malang City beach volleyball team is targeting medals in all the events they are participating in. "In the women's individual event, we are targeting gold to maintain our previous achievements. For the men's individual event, our target is silver, because we previously made it into the top four. While in the team event and four set"We are aiming for a bronze medal," said Muharji.
Muharji said that the coaching of Malang City athletes is carried out routinely and structured according to age level. "Our training is tiered, from the youth level, up to juniors, to seniors who compete in this Porprov. We usually train at the Rampal Field. Hopefully, the enthusiasm of athletes for beach volleyball will continue to increase and can be maximized," he concluded.
