Color Meaning :

• Red and white, is the symbol of the Indonesian national flag.
• Yellow, meaning nobility and greatness.
• Green is fertility.
• Light blue means Loyalty to God, Country and Nation
• Shield-shaped pentagon meaning the spirit of heroic struggle, geographical conditions, mountains, and the spirit of building to achieve a just and prosperous society based on Pancasila.

The DPRDGR confirmed the symbol of Malang City with Regional Regulation No. 4 of 1970.

The sound of the motto on the emblem "MALANG KUCECWARA"

This motto has been used since the 50th anniversary of the founding of KOTAPRAJA MALANG in 1964, before that the motto used was

“MALANG NAMAKU, MAJU TUJUANKU”

which is the translation of:

“MALANG NOMINATOR, SURSUMMOVEOR”

Which was ratified by "Gouvernement besluit dd. 25 April 1938 N. 027". The new motto was proposed by the late Prod.DR. R.Ng.Poernatjaraka, and is closely related to the origin of Malang City during the Ken Arok era.
